Many of the alternative energy sources that people are investigating today have actually been around for a long time. Wind energy for example was harnessed to move ships and turn windmills to grind grain and cut wood way before the gasoline powered engine. But when the gasoline powered engine came around the new technology allowed them to go faster and cheaper. People were using thicker stone or wood walled homes to help retain heat in the winter and keep things cool in the summer long, long ago.
Now that the sources for oil are disappearing people are starting to look back at the old technologies and are trying to see if by using improvements in materials and technologies they can lower the costs and increase the efficiency of these new energy sources. Improvements in materials in solar cells have really created new possibilities. New hydro-powered collection devices can now pick up energy from currents as slow a 1 mph.
The key is to improve the efficiency of the device to you can increase the electrical power output and reduce the cost of the device so that using it is less than using a fossil fuel powered electrical source.
What type of alternative energy would you be most likely to use if you were an adult right now? What do you think would be available in twenty years that you would use?

i would pick the wind power energy becase i now that in the futer that type of energy would still be here
I would probably use the same stuff i am using now, if it is still existing

i dont think that i would use any different energy sources that im using right now. in the
i will use da solar energy bcause i think it will never end,bcause its 4rom da sun.....so dats y will use solar nergy..........n in 2o years da sun will still exist....

I think its cool to use all the technology in this class. And if i had to use a source of energy it would probably be all differnt kinds.There wuld be all kinds of stuff in the future.
I think its cool to use old technologies and advance them in new ways! Also i wonder if they even have enough brains to advance new technologies. maybe they will find a way to conserve more energy.
Otherwise i think its pretty cool to advance things.
Iwould like all the energy sources.More energy would not be harmfull.
